Music is one of the most basic of all subjects, and it is beneficial, even if a student has no aspirations of becoming a professional musician. According to a report in USA Today, 90% of more than 1,000 Chief Executive Officers and members of Congress interviewed said that playing music as a child helped them "develop character and leadership skills.” Those skills are important regardless of chosen profession.
The AGPS Music program is designed to develop students' music theory and ear training skills from the beginning level to the advanced. Placement in the appropriate class is determined by a written assessment completed during the student's entrance assessment.
